CQAF10 defies the credit crunch as events continue to sell out!

The Tenth Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival continues to defy the economic climate by boasting the biggest box office takings its history. With acts as diverse as Mark Thomas, Lloyd Cole, David O'Doherty and the Dublin Fringe hit Waiting for Ikea already sold out and film-maker John Pilger being moved to a bigger venue (St Georges Church), the popularity of CQAF is greater than ever.

“We're absolutely staggered with our box office takings,” said festival director Sean Kelly.

"What makes it all the more amazing is that it's happened in the current financial climate where people are understandably more careful about where they’re spending their money.

“People are thinking more carefully about going out and spending their money on arts and culture. The arts |sector as a whole needs to raise its game and give audiences experiences that are |exciting, uplifting and most importantly, affordable.”

Tickets are being snapped for other festival events which include renowned actor Steven Berkoff, music legends Teenage Fanclub and BBC presenter Joe Lindsay in Talk Radio, his first ever professional acting role.
